In the meanwhile, he meets Miriam and she is his dream come true, a compassionate faith filled woman. But Miriam is a diabetic, and therefore not sure that she will be able to safely have children. 3. The Amish Teacher
Martha, the eldest of the Graber siblings has been single all these years. For long now, she has given up all hopes of ever getting married.
A chance meeting with a young Amish man Jacob rekindles the dying hope. The only problem is that he is way younger than her, and no one approves of their age difference.
Will Martha be able to find true love? Is Jacob simply being courteous with her, or is there really a mutual love between them?
4. The Bishop's Daughter
Rebecca, the Bishop's daughter has been promised to Roy Yoder. But Rebecca is not happy with the match.

This is a collection of four short stories centered around the siblings Martha, John, Sarah and Sarah's brother in law Paul. Each snippet covers the time of initial meeting, a struggle with a life choice which may not be accepted by their community, and then marriage. Each story is brief, written with the modern English flavor of the Amish language and provides you different glimpses into the Amish culture.

I chose this rating because the theme/outcome was predictable. I'm glad that the siblings got what they saw as God's purpose. I would recommend this boxset to anyone who likes Amish stories.
This author has taken a subject I knew nothing about and showed me how and why they did what was in some cases so foreign to me. I learned about their customs and what we would consider hardships they consider everyday chores then add female heroines and really good stories. Thank you these people would make such wonderful friends and family.
Each sibling went through heartache and worries to be with their chosen mate and still follow God's path. They battled their parents ideas and their own insecurities to marry and become the person they were meant to be. There was nothing wrong with their choices but it was not the path chosen for them by their family. Handles well and written with understanding.
Enjoyable, uplifting, engaging stories suitable for a quick read. I wish they were longer though.
While these stories stand together nicely, they provide the foundation for additional stories/ books of continued life in their Amish community.
Solutions for each story seem a bit simplistic but carry the flavor of the Amish nicely.

These were sweet short stories. I enjoyed reading them, I just wished they were longer. Any age would enjoy them if you like to read about the Amish.
